Diagnosis

No full diagnosis of this species that replaces P. caligata (of which it was regarded a subspecies) in Angola is presently available, but males appear to differ by (1) the thorax sides being greenish with hardly a red tinge at maturity; (2) the fore tibiae more abruptly widened at the base; (3) the (especially hind) femora apically reddish, not contrasting with the tibiae; (4) black apical bars present up to S6 rather than S4 or S5.

Habitat description

Streams in open areas in forest or shaded by gallery forest. Probably often with submerged roots, dead trunks or branches and/or coarse detritus. From 200 to 1700 m above sea level.
